Deputy Youth Commissioner

Forest of dean Scouts are looking for enthusiastic young adults to apply for the role of Deputy Youth Commissioner. Our current District Youth Commissioner Team are looking to expand their reach and we are looking for someone new to take on this exciting and challenging role!

The main role of the Deputy Youth Commissioner is to champion youth shaped scouting across the Forest of Dean, working with District and group teams to provide opportunities for young people to shape their scouting.

We are looking for someone with passion for youth shaped scouting, willingness to learn and develop, enthusiasm and forward thinking. As part of the role, you will be expected to complete a manager and supporter wood badge which will give you opportunities to attend training and learn from experienced managers.

Group Scout Leader – 1st St Briavels

Key responsibilities:

Ensure that the Scout Group thrives and has the best systems in place to support adult volunteers and develop the Group – including a Group Executive Committee and Section leadership teams.

Provide line management and support to the Leaders in the Scout Group, including setting objectives for their work and holding regular reviews and one-to-one meetings.
Ensure that a challenging, exciting and balanced programme is offered to young people in the Scout Group.Work with the District Commissioner, Deputy District Commissioner(s) and other Group Scout Leaders in the District to ensure that the District thrives and supports Scout Groups.

Note: Some of the tasks for which the Group Scout Leader is responsible may be delegated to others in the Group, including a Deputy Group Scout Leader if appointed.

Full training will be given for this role.
A DBS will be required for this role
Line manager responsibilities: Responsible for all adults within the Scout Group, reporting to the District Commissioner.
